…though maybe not so much to that extent.
The thing is, being only human, we have the tedency to forget about those we see everyday, the ones we love and care for the most. We are so used to them being there that we “take it for granted” and forget to consider their feelings, especially with our words and actions. And sometimes it’s not really a big thing - something not said that was wanted to hear but there’s no quite way to ask, something not done that was expected, or it could be something actually said to someone else, or done for someone else, that just slipped our minds whether it would hurt the other person.
The irony of us human beings is that we always hurt the ones we love most the deepest, simply by being forgetful, or worse still, deliberately doing it. Whether the person knows or not is inconsequential, but from their perspective if you think they would have been hurt, that should have been good enough reason not to do it. But you probably did. It may not have meant anything to you, it may even have been a simple courtesy from your perspective, but hurts to another never come from your perspective - only theirs.
The irony is deep, and so do the hurts that come from it. But because we are so familiar, we forget.
