Spheres of water from the sky -
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
Each one beckons to its kind.
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
Down my head, my back they fall
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
Into my eyes, and out with more
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
My shirt, my clothes, all start to cling
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
The open wounds once again sting
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
Soaked shoes add to laboured feet
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
While walking down life’s stormy street
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
And drizzles grow to mighty torrents
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
Bringing more than what I warrant
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
And I wonder why rain falls
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
When I have done naught deserving at all
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
But it falls whether innocent or not
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
And I chose the battles I have fought,
Drip. Drop. Plip. Plop.
And perhaps it seems I might have lost.
But the rain falls still, drip, drop.
